Favorite ROXY moment you have had working with the brand:
My favorite Roxy moment would have to be going to the Colorado and seeing snow for first time. Having all the girls embrace me in learning how to snowboard. Growing up on an island I only thought that surfing created sisterhood but now I know so does the snow and that wouldn’t happen without Roxy. Our sister hood goes beyond the ocean and the mountains.
What excites you about the future of women’s surfing/snowboarding?
What’ excites me about women surfing/snowboarding is seeing the women perform on the same stage the men do. It’s amazing to watch the women push the envelope and build up the courage to do that. And I think all the women understand that succeeding is great but it’s even greater to succeed for the future generations to come.

Favorite ROXY moment you have had working with the brand:
I have had so many memorable and fun moments working with Roxy. But I have to say my favorite by far would be the global Tahiti campaign that I had the opportunity to be in! I have been repping Roxy since I was a little girl so to be able to be a part of a huge campaign was a dream! I made amazing friends on this trip who I am still in contact with and I was able to surf some really fun waves with amazing women in the most beautiful place ever. I feel super grateful for all the memories we made on this trip :)

Favorite ROXY moment you have had working with the brand:
The most recent campaign shoot I did in Hawaii with all the Roxy girls from Hawaii. It was my first time in Waikiki beach in December 2021 and It was the photoshoot I felt the most comfortable, I was surrounded by incredible, loving and funny women. We were shooting everything from dawn to dusk. We had the best meals, my sister Kohai and I were doing tandem on a longboard, we went on a canoe boat for sunset and came back at night with all the city lights of waikiki. I was speechless. They inspired me to just be me, be confident, be brave, Kelia, Monyca, Bruna, Malia, Kelish , Aunty Megs, Betty Lou and my sister Kohai and the photographers. And that’s what I love about my Roxy family. They support me for who I am, and for who I want to become. And I will forever be grateful for all the lessons this brand has taught me!
What excites you about the future of women’s surfing/snowboarding?
The future of women’s surfing is now actually. It’s already heading towards bigger waves, more air time, bigger turns, more tube time and especially, the support from everyone that women’s surfing is bright.

Favorite ROXY moment you have had working with the brand:
My favorite ROXY moment I’ve had so far was the collection of days I got to spend with our Snow team athletes, all together, out in Copper, CO for the first ever MWMM team trip. A lot of the girls met each other in person for the first time on this trip and despite the fact that most of them could be considered strangers up until that moment, the energy generated there was infectious. It was bonding and it was exhilarating. We felt like we spanned ages together; crossing decades and reaching from the rich past of ROXY’s history in snow, propelling up and forward - connecting into its bright future. We came together not just to create content, but to create relationships and to inspire each other. I feel lucky to have had the chance to help something so wonderful come to life, and to be there for it in person. I feel lucky to work for a brand that prioritizes people and gives them opportunities to lift each other up.
What excites you about the future of women’s surfing/snowboarding?
What inspires me most about women’s snow is two-fold: first off, I’m just constantly blown away by what the younger generation is doing. The level of progression, confidence and camaraderie is next level; it’s what dreams are made of! And second, the way that snow has changed over the years. It isn’t perfect and it still has a long way to go, but the fact that things for women in snow are different now than they were for me when I was growing up – that’s huge. In the past, nine times out of ten if a woman was featured in a snow ad, it was as a prop. It was as an object; as a playboy bunny stand-in. Thankfully, this kind of portrayal is primarily behind us now and the days of women being seen as props (as opposed to being individuals; people) within a sport that should be open and representative of all, are coming to a close. Again, there is a long way to go to make sure are open and available to those who are underrepresented, but it makes me hopeful to have seen change already in my time.

Favorite ROXY moment you have had working with the brand:
Many years ago during a Roxy photoshoot in Mammoth, I got to spend the afternoon snowboarding with Torah Bright and a few colleagues. I had looked up to her my whole life as an athlete, so this was a big moment for me! I was nervous I wouldn’t be able to keep up with her, but she was nice and didn’t go too fast for us.
What excites you about the future of women’s surfing/snowboarding?
Women are finally starting to find their place as equals in the line up, on the mountain, at contests, etc. Year after year records are getting broken by women, new tricks are being tried, pushing their athletic limits more than ever. Girls these days will grow up not even thinking twice about competing in sports, and every year there are increasingly more female athletes to look up to.

Favorite ROXY moment you have had working with the brand:
My favorite ROXY moment was at the ROXY Make Waves Move Mountains camp in Colorado this past December. A whole crew of ROXY girls got together from all different disciplines for a week of shredding, but it was so much more than that.
What excites me about the future of women’s surfing/skiing:
First and foremost I believe females all over the world are breaking stereotypes and proving to the world who we really are, and what we can accomplish. We are seeing that like never before in women’s freeskiing and snowboarding and it’s been one my greatest pleasures to watch it all unfold with my own eyes. The community within the sport and out are really turning their heads and I feel finally giving females the credit they deserve.
I’m always inspired to be a better human, but mostly a better woman for generations to come.

It’s incredibly hard to choose just one moment! I’ve had so much fun and fulfillment ever since my first day working at ROXY. Choosing one of many moments, it would have to be the Make Waves Move Mountains Camp in Colorado. Getting to ride, cook, laugh, and be with the girls was unforgettable and the bonds of friendship created during that week will last a lifetime. ❤
What excites you about the future of women’s surfing/snowboarding?
The growth and opportunity that is behind women in both sports. Now, more than ever women are on larger, growing platforms and the perfect storm of change and progression is making itself known. I’m honored and stoked to be part of the industry’s future and momentum women have been pushing for! Not to mention the athlete’s out there pushing the envelope in progression of the sport – in surf, snowboarding, and ski.
