Born in Japan, Haruna Matsumoto always new she would become a snowboarder. At age 24, she stepped on the second step of the Women’s Halfpipe podium at the 2017 World Championships. A year later, she represented her country at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, ranking 6th, the highest among Japanese athletes.
In 2020, Haruna won the bronze medal at the X-Games and the silver medal at the US open.
Next up? The 2022 Winter Olympics.

Favorite place to travel? I love traveling. I really love Okinawa and I hope to go to Hawaii someday!
Best moment in your career? When a lot of people supported me and I got the best results!
Favorite things to do when you’re not riding? I like to cook and try new foods. I also love being by the sea!
